Less then 2 weeks, I'll be on a plane for sunny Scottsdale, AZ to watch one of the largest Arabian horse shows of the year and I can't wait! Friends, horses, and shopping? What could possibly be any better?! And it'll be a nice change in pace from the weather we've been getting. Not that's its been bad, but between the wind and the mud, I'm ready for warmer and consistent temperatures.

Since it's been off and on of warm and cold, the ground hasn't been the best kind of footing there is to offer, so I wasn't able to ride Yesterday, I was able to get Paxton out for a few minutes and lunge him for about 15 minutes, just enough for him to burn some energy and get outside while the other two were out in the pasture. So because I wasn't able to do everything that I wanted, I spent some time practicing my clipping skills...needless to say, they need some work. For Arabians, the faces are done with a show clip, which I wasn't going to do today as that takes a bit more time (for me) and I didn't want to cut the hair too short. So, I just used a sized 10 blade on my Oster clippers, so that it's shorter, but not to the skin short. I practiced on Billy since he's the one with the most hair and he desperately needed it. The struggle trying to put that horse's halter on was unreal. I started by clipping the whiskers off his nose and under his chin and then the whiskers around his eyes, not too bad. I worked on clipping the rest of his face by clipping his hairy forehead. Between the amount of hair that he had and just the fact that he was so dirty, the clippers had a really hard time getting through. I wish that I had took a picture, perhaps tomorrow, but the poor guy looks that he got a hack job. Ok, it wasn't as bad as what it was, I did go back and touch it up before I put him away, but I'm thankful that he puts up with me and that I didn't give him a mirror to show him. At least it's easier to put his halter on.

I pulled out Rocky and did up his face a little bit to, but not nearly as much as Billy since he doesn't have much hair. I also got their bridle paths, which is the part of their mane that grows directly behind the middle of their head (the poll) and a little bit behind their ears. At least all three of them now, look a lot better and more handsome.

Sorry this week hasn't been all that eventful other than that. Hoping that next week will be a lot more eventful coming up on vacation, I'll definitely try to take a ton of pictures and post them up here for you guys to see! Then it will be March! Less than two months til the first show! Nervous, but excited!
